Tired Landlord asks unmarried tenants to vacate by January

A Kenyan landlord has sparked debate after issuing a notice to his tenants ahead of the festive season.

In the notice, the landlord said that they would only allow married individuals into their apartments.

The tenants must update their details if married or not before renewing their rental agreement.

Those who fail to meet the agreement by Sunday, January 1 2023, will be cleared to vacate the houses.

“We would like to tell you that effective 1st January 2023, we would only accommodate married individuals in our apartments. You are required to update your details with our office by filling a new tenacity agreement. Those who will not have fulfilled this requirement by said date, will be cleared and asked to vacate,” read the notice.
