Sarkodie reacts to reports that he ‘stole’ the key verse from George Darko’s “Odo Colour” song to make his “Coachella” track

Ghanaian decorated rapper, Sarkodie has finally responded to claims that he sampled key verses from George Darko’s “Odo Colour” song to his latest song dubbed ‘Coachella’ which he featured Kwesi Arthur.

The BET award winner after releasing his latest song has raised many eyebrows and concerns as many say he is now turning into a different thing that cannot be said.

Well, the criticisms from Ghanaians have triggered him to clear the air during an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM that he went through the right sampling process before adding those lines.

He explained that he had a chat with legendary George Darko and seek her permission before sampling the said lines.

In his exact words, he said;

You have to seek the consent of whoever owns the right to the music. that is the same way that I would like to be treated. Even when I am old or gone, I would want my Titi and MJ to get some credit or revenue from people trying to use my work.”

And that is exactly what we did with Odo Colour. Big shouts to Daddy George Darko for making it smooth for us. We had a conversation. And he had his credit on as a writer, because that line was written by him. And that is the best way to go about it”.
