Man United decision on club’s next permanent manager

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly the leading contender to be announced as Manchester United manager in the summer after the Red Devils ended their interest in Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine tactician had been the Red Devils’ first choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the Norwegian tactician was sacked last year following a dismal start to the season.

He was initially keen to seal the move but the Paris Saint-Germain board put a block on the English giants’ approach as target Zinedine Zidane had intimated he wasn’t ready to return to management.

The club have twice tried to hire Mauricio and Sir Alex Ferguson is a known fan of the former Southampton leader.

However, the Times states the South American has been replaced as the 20-time English champions’ first choice to become their next manager, with the hierarchy now targeting ten Hag from de Joden.

He is widely considered as one of the best head coaches in world football, having lifted two league trophies with the Eredivisie giants since he took charge five years ago.

But maybe more impressive is the way in which Erik has implemented his philosophy and playing style in Amsterdam, while also taking his side to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.
