Ghana is a 'crabs-in-a-barrel' country-Shatta Wale

Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has described Ghana as a ‘crabs-in-a-barrel’ country.

According to Shatta Wale, If you succeed in the country people try to pull you down.

Shatta Wale took to his Facebook handle to write:

“Ghana is a ‘crab in a barrel’ country…Period!! If you make it-they will fight you. If you don’t make it-they will laugh at you !!”

Crabs-in-a-barrel is a syndrome where a group of like-situated people hurt those in their community attempting to get ahead.

Often this is applied to people in an impoverished community where one person is starting to get ahead.

The collective community becomes jealous or filled with a sense of self-loathing, so they find a way to pull that person back down to the community’s level.
