Consumer Tech Trends In 2021

It’s undeniable that technology practically took center stage in the midst of a global pandemic that required people to work remotely and isolate themselves within their homes. Technology is what enabled that sense of connection between people who were forced to stay physically distant from one another. Many people relied on tech for many different things like entertainment, communications, productivity, and personal wellness.

However, it’s also getting to a point wherein people are starting to question whether tech is starting to oversaturate their lives. Practically everything that is worth doing these days requires some kind of technological device.

The world is rapidly changing and it’s gearing towards a society that’s more receptive and adept at using technology in daily processes. Although, this is a fast-paced industry that has trends changing on practically a daily basis. Here are a few of the top consumer trends that are highly prevalent in 2021.

First, there are digital communications. Yes, most people are probably sick and tired of all their Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings. However, these tools are largely responsible for continuing productivity within a work structure that relied on people staying efficient while working from home.

More than just for work, people rely on tech for establishing closer ties with friends and loved ones as well. It allows people to literally feel more connected with one another despite being in different parts of the world.

Of course, digital entertainment is a trend that has been around for quite a while now, but it’s still continuing to serve up new innovations every day. YouTube changed the game when the streaming service first launched back in 2005. However, these days, the world of digital entertainment has grown to become a lot more expansive.

A lot of traditional services or sources of entertainment that are done in the physical world are now being transitioned to online spaces. For example, look at online casinos. There are so many online casino platforms that are recruiting new users every day because of the accessibility of the gameplay.

One example of the innovations that casinos are rolling out these days is live roulette games. With live roulette games, actual human dealers are connected with real players through video conferencing technology. This essentially eliminates the need for an algorithm and it brings back the human element of playing at an actual casino. It’s not just roulette either. This is a trend that’s prevalent in multiplayer strategy casino games like live poker as well.

These days, more and more people are paying attention to their health. This is why companies like Garmin and Fitbit are totally finding success with their wearable tech products. Even other tech giants like Samsung and Apple are looking to capture a huge part of the market share with their wearable products like health trackers, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds. Slowly, technology is integrating itself into peoples’ articles of clothing as well.

Because of the pandemic, many people saw the necessity to innovate the way transactions are done. Amazon first made this popular with their self-checkout systems at their stores. But more and more establishments have adopted this kind of system. Essentially, customers are able to get the product or service that they need without having to interact with a human seller. It’s a matter of selecting a product and merely using technology on their phones or credit cards to make instant payments on their own.

Lastly, there is the gig economy. One thing that the pandemic helped people realize is that it’s perfectly possible to earn a living while working remotely. This is why many people have resorted to side hustles that have allowed them to consistently apply their talents and skills into opportunities for monetization.

It’s interesting to see how the world is going to continue to adapt and evolve together with the technology that it produces. It’s especially a lot more interesting to look at these developments coming right after a global pandemic that essentially necessitated the use of technology for continuity when it came to productivity and efficiency. At this point, it’s really no longer a question of whether tech will dominate our lives or not. It’s more of a question of how.
