A musician who has been missing for five months has tragically been found dead on a French beach miles away from where has last seen in Kent, police say.
Popular musician, Dan Venes, 31, was last seen in Margate on August 14, 2021, and has been the subject of an intense search operation over the past five months.
In that time, friends and family of Dan have come together online to look out for any signs of his whereabouts with no concrete sightings being established since August 14.
However today, officers have confirmed they have located a body washed up on a beach in Northern France.
A spokesman for Kent Police has confirmed that they are no longer seeking information on Daniel’s case.
They said: “On January 18, 2022, Kent Police was informed by Interpol that the body of a man had been discovered on a beach in northern France.
“Enquiries to establish the identity of the body are ongoing however the family of Daniel Venes, who was reported missing after he was last seen in Margate on Saturday 14 August 2021, have been informed.”
It is currently unclear what the cause of Daniel’s death was or how long he was in the water before he was discovered.
But speaking to KentOnline, Dan’s father Jason Joiner claimed that his son’s body had actually been discovered far earlier.
He said: “He was found about five months ago I think – but it’s taken them all this time.
The Daily Star has put Jason’s comments to Kent Police for clarification.
Following the confirmation of his death, Dan’s friends have paid tribute to him online.
One wrote: “Fly high Dan, once a star always a star.
“Your name, your art, and your music will live on.”
