Apple threatens to remove Twitter from app store, Musk responds

In the latest episode of the overly dramatic Twitter ‘Webseries’, Elon Musk has claimed that Apple is threatening to remove Twitter from it’s app store, and the Cupertino giant won’t explain why.

Elon has also stated that Apple has completely stopped advertising on Twitter, he even tweeted tagging Apple chief Tim Cook saying, “What’s going on here Tim Cook?”. Musk went on to say “Do they hate free speech in America?”

Apple threatening to boot Twitter off its platform is most likely to be due to moderation issues and not the 30% commission. In the past Discord and Tumblr have had to comply with Apple’s demands for content safetyon apps available in its store.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a recent interview that “they say that they are going to continue to moderate. I’m counting on them to continue to do that”.

Meanwhile, Twitter since Musk’s takeover has been a free-for-all, except for someone who impersonates Elon Musk himself. The platform has reported lower spam and hate speech, but the recent $8 for Blue tick got a lot of companies in trouble because of spammers impersonating high-value brands, celebs etc.

While Musk is making this about ‘Free Speech’, Apple it seems to be worried about the unfiltered trolling, porn, hate speech and other things that are currently running wild on Twitter under the disguise of ‘Free Speech’
